66 Book Club: 14 books for £45! My book haul!

A week or so ago I posted a blog all about my experience at 66 Book Club (remember… the warehouse full of books all 70% off?!) Today I wanted to show you all the books I purchased… cos I got 14!

The Craftsman by Sharon Bolton

I’d seen this one all over the blogosphere and had seen very little negative reviews for it. It’s Goodreads rating is over 4 stars so I thought it would be worth picking up. I feel like I have a lot of possibly mediocre mystery books on my shelves so I wanted to get something I thought would really grab me!

The Hatching by Ezekiel Boone

This was one of my first Netgalley rejections (ouch) and the second book I put in my basket. There were a couple of cover editions for this one, and while this one is a little scuffed up, I loved it so much more than the other edition, I had to pick it up!

 

Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad

This one was my only really random pick-up. It hasn’t got the best reviews, but I was interested by the synopsis. Again, I liked the cover of this one.

The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka

OK, real talk, I picked this one up because it’s got Jeff Goldblum on the cover… but also, my mum recommended this one to me years ago. Thought it was about time to pick it up, especially with this funky cover.

 

East of Eden by John Steinbeck

I love to avoid “the classics” but when I saw this edition, I just had to pick it up. I’d been eyeing these covers so it seemed silly not to buy it. I’m actually reading this one currently and really enjoying it so far!

Fever Dream by Samanta Schweblin

This is only a teeny tiny book and I’ve heard lots of great things about it. I recently read a short story collection by Schweblin, which I only half loved so I’m hoping I get on with this one a little more.

 

The Outsider by Albert Camus

One of the first books I ever put on my Goodreads TBR. Another classic, but it’s only a small book so I thought I’d give it a go, especially since I liked the cover!

Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk

This is one of those books I’ve had on my TBR for ages! I loved the movie and I’ve enjoyed Palahnuik’s writing before too. I actually found this book in 2 editions and put a poll up on my story because I wasn’t sure which one I preferred.

 

Eiger Dreams by Jon Krakauer

I don’t really know what this book is about, I think it’s a small collection of stories Krakuer’s covered, but I have read his work before and I really liked his style of writing. Even though this is nonfiction, he’s good masking the sometimes-monotonous facts behind storyteller writing!

Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury

I haven’t been able to avoid the love for this book that’s plaguing Instagram at the moment, so when I saw it on the shelves, it just felt right to pick it up. I’m not even sure what it’s about!

 

The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris

This was the first book I put in my basket when I got to the warehouse. You’ve got to have been living under a rock to have never heard of this, it’s been big news I the bookish community. I’ve heard so many amazing things, I can’t wait to read it!

Out of Thin Air by Anthony Adeane

I picked this one up because when I saw it, a lightbulb went off and I remembered seeing a review for it on What’s Nonfiction’s blog. I recall it being on a 3-star review but I thought the story sounded interesting and I’d give it a go.

So there you have it! That was my very successful book haul from 66 Book Club. I’m going to try and make it my goal to read all, if not most, of these before the year is up! If I do that, I’ll definitely smash my reading goal.
