Hello friends! I’m here today with the Book Blogger Test Tag, which I was tagged in by the wonderful Nicole @ Book-Wyrm-Knits. I really like this tag because it’s a bit different from loads of the others that are out there, I definitely had to think a little more to get my answers for these q’s!
1. What are your top 3 bookish pet peeves?
- Broken spines or creased book covers
- Movie poster covers! Even if it’s the lovely face of Mads Mikkelson on the cover, I don’t want it. I’m sorry Mads.
- Floaty airy fairy writing when I don’t think even the author knows what they’re writing
2. Name a perfect reading spot:
I love snuggling on the sofa with my duvet and reading. It’s like the comfort of my bed without it actually being my bed and making me sleepy.
3. Give 3 reading confessions:
- I sometimes scour reviews on Goodreads *hoping* I’ll bump into an untagged spoiler…
- When I’m loving a book and super excited to know what’s going to happen next, I often skim read until I get to a really exciting bit
- I go into a lot of my books not knowing anything about them as they’ve usually sat on my shelves or kindle for too long for me to remember the synopsis
4. When was the last time you cried during a book?
I recently finished A River in Darkness by Masaji Ishikawa and cried a lot.
5. Number of books on your bedside table?
I don’t have a bedside table, so none. I do have one book on the floor by my bed though.
6. Favourite reading snack?
I avoid eating and reading… but I do love having a cup of tea with a book.
7. What are 3 books you’d recommend to anyone?
- Rosemary’s Baby by Ira Levin
- The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August by Claire North
- To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
8. Provide a picture of your bookshelf:
This is a catfish picture of my shelves as they’re actually a lot messier than this irl…
9. How much do books mean to you in 3 words?
A shit ton.
10. Biggest reading secret?
At this moment in time, I think I prefer short stories over actual novels!
Tag you’re it!

Oh my…we have A LOT in common ha-ha! I can’t STAND movie book covers…seriously, I really don’t care about whichever actor/actress and what not. If it’s the only copy available, I’ll actually wait for the non-movie cover to come back in stock lol! My newer and nicer books HAVE to be super tidy…no broken spines! Some of my older “used” ones are not as nice, but that’s okay. Ugh…I read a book with that “fairy airy” language — normally, I love that kind of writing…BUT IT HAS TO MAKE SENSE!
Reading confessions…spot on. I’ve done ALL of those lol! I did the “mini read ahead” recently with Autoboyography…oh well…
I don’t snack either, but coffee or tea is a must. I don’t know why…but it’s my comfort zone. Oooo! “To Kill a Mockingbird”! Always recommending that one.
Seriously love…over half of this post is literally going to be what I write ha-ha!!
Thank you for the tag! I’ll get to this…one day…ha-ha!

You always leave the nicest comments!!
I will defo pay extra or wait longer for a non movie cover book! I love secondhand books but I find it so uncomfortable if they’re completely wrecked… that’s the trouble with buying them online. I’ve managed to get some really good vintage editions of Stephen King though which is good!
Can’t wait to see your own answers on this!! ❤

Awee, thank you!! I’m glad you like my comments 🙂
Oh man … me too. I have never owned a book with a movie cover — it just ruins it for me.
I do agree that secondhand books are okay to an extent; I still am a little picky if they’re in a horrid condition. Ooooo! Vintage Stephen King novels are DEFINITELY the way to go! I have a few of those by Charles Dickens and they’re just WAY better than any of the updated versions IMO.
I just finished it! I forget when I have it scheduled for … but you’re tagged in it! ❤

I feel like the SK books are usually kep in good condition cause they’re alomost like collectors items at this point so you can pick up a really good condition book pretty easily!
Ohh yay, looking forward to seeing it! ❤

I avoid eating and reading too because I’m a disaster 😂. I’ve always admire people who can do both. And I’d love to read The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August soon, it sounds INCREDIBLE 😍💕

I agree about the movie covers on books! They bug me, especially when I know what the original art was. Thanks for playing along! These tags are fun. 🙂

I’ve often forgotten the synopsis by the time I get to a book too, and then I get surprised by things THAT ARE IN THE BLURB 😂

I will willingly pay more money for a book to avoid the movie cover.
And … I can’t remember the last time I went into a book actually knowing what it was about. I read the summary when I buy it / request it on NetGalley and once I own it, I assume it’s something I love so I jump right in. Everything’s a surprise!
I loved your answers!

Love your answers! I also scour for spoilery reviews on goodreads and bad ones, so I know what to expect and what I’m getting myself into 😀

Ugh, i don’t like movie covers either.
Downside of kindle books that often they just automatically update even tho i bought them with the previous cover

Ohhh that sucks! I always delete kindle books after I’ve read them so I never notice that!

I also really dislike movie tie-in covers, huge pet peeve of mine haha! Thanks so much for the tag, and I loved reading your answers.

Seems like most readers hate movie covers, I guess it’s a ploy to get more of the general public to read them!
