I managed to get through 3 books this month, although the Daphne du Maurier might not really count as it’s a short story of 60 pages!
Books read: 3
Pages read: 674
Female authors: 1
Male authors: 2
⭐⭐⭐
Follow You Home by Mark Edwards
Trace of Death by Blake Pierce
⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Break-Through by Daphne du Maurier

Other books I’ve reviewed this month
- Snowblind by Ragnar Jonasson

Favourite book of the month
Definitely the Daphne du Maurier story! At just 60 pages it blew the other two books out of the water!

Books bought or received this month
None – I’ve not bought or requested any books this month as part of my challenge to myself to read my backlog!

Book goal update
After having such a bad time with my reading last year I decided to give myself a reasonable goal of just 30 books to read this year. I am now 10% the way through this goal so I may have to up it later in the year if I manage to fly through the 30 books set!

Here are the pics I posted on IG this month! – another uneventful month in January. The lack of sunlight is really putting me off taking pictures…

Personal update
I feel like January is a month of not a lot for most people – including me!
We went out with our friends for an impromptu night out which ended up being very fun and drunken. We also met up with friends for lunch at Pizza Express and just this past week I went to a friend / colleagues house with a few other girls from work and we had a homemade Indian and a good gossip! It was fun because we don’t see each other enough outside of work.
We’ve been doing a lot of stuff for our house. The build completion date is at the end of Feb so we’ve been signing contracts etc. Boring and scary stuff! We visited the place a few times, it’s slowly coming along inside. Last time we went, the bathrooms and radiators had been put in but we were still kitchenless.
We also got some really great news – my grandad and his wife have offered to pay for us to go out to Australia for 3 weeks in October! This was incredible news to hear as with the moving out, Matt and I didn’t think we’d get to go abroad this year. My mum, stepdad, Matt & I will all be going out there together. Grandpa Far (what I’ve always called my grandad as he lives so far away… get it?) lives in Toowoomba, near Brisbane, but is taking us to Port Douglas for just over a week, again all paid for by him – how generous? We have the other week and a bit to do what we want. Matt and I are trying to decide if we want to do a little road trip back down to Brisbane by ourselves, or spend the time back in Toowoomba and have more of a chill out holiday. Good decisions to have, hey?
That’s a wrap
So that’s it for this month, I hope you all had a nice first month of 2019! I know some people thought the month went by super slowly, but it rushed past for me!
What were some of your highlights of this month?
I’m interested in the Daphn Du Maurier as I DNF’D Rebecca years ago, but I think I could handle 60 pages. Love that photo of Australia looks gorgeous, you lucky thing! 😀

I’d say give it a try! It’s not a huge shocker of a novel, it’s definitely subtle but it was a good read nontheless! 🙂

Three books is great! That’s how many I’ve read so far (just about to finish #4). I put my reading goal back at 52…but I might change it to 30. I’m giving myself to the end of the summer to decide if I want to lower it ha-ha!
AUSTRALIA!?! SO COOL! My friend is there right now and she loves it! That’s so exciting!
