The Liebster Award, take 5

The Liebster Award, take 5 (1)

A while back I was tagged by the lovely Destiny @ Howling Libraries to do the Liebster Award! I loved her questions and I feel like I haven’t posted in a while so this seems like the best thing to do!

What is the longest slump you’ve ever been in?

I’m currently in my longest reading slump! I’m still reading but at a very slow pace. IT’s been about 3 months now.

Do you prefer ARCs or finished copies of books?

Definitely, a finished copy because they’ll have the final cover and (usually) no internal errors. However, I do love receiving ARC’s, there’s something so special feeling about receiving a book that’s not even for sale yet.

What is your favourite review you’ve ever written (not based on views/likes, but your feelings)?

Probably my American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis review. I fell head over heels for that book and I think that comes across in my review.

What was the last song you fell in love with?

I’m loving ‘thank u, next’ at the moment. I’ve never been a huge Ariana fan but I liked her most recent album too!

What type of YouTube videos do you most commonly watch?

Strangely, I watch gaming and reaction YouTube channels rather thank BookTubers. I like channels such as FunHaus, iDubbbzTV, H3H3, Cody Ko etc

Do you have a favourite holiday? If so, why did you pick it?

Image may contain: christmas tree and indoor
This is my Christmas tree from last year!

I never know if this means like Christmas etc or going away on “vacation”. I’m guessing it means a special day in the year, in which case it’s definitely Christmas. We don’t really have as many holiday’s here in the UK, other than Christmas I can only really think of is Halloween, which I don’t celebrate!

Be honest: have you ever bought a book mostly just for its cover?

Oh definitely. I have a couple of classic novels that I’m unlikely to read but I loved their special edition covers, so I bought TWO!

Do you like to keep your books pristine, or “lived in” them with highlighters, tabs, annotations, etc.?

Pristine! I hate cracking spines on books or writing in them. One thing I am fine with, though, is dog-earing because I find bookmarks annoying. However, I have been good recently and am using a lovely bookmark that The Sunday Feeling made for me!

What is the most money you’ve ever spent on one book, and would you do it again?

Hmm, I’m not sure about this one. I’ve never spent ridiculous amounts on a book… not yet anyway… I have been tempted!

Do you use any method to keep track of your TBR, like a TBR jar, spreadsheet, notebook, etc.?

Errrm, nope! I have over 100 unread books on my shelves at home. I should just go along each shelf and read them one at a time, but I’m such a mood reader, I find it difficult to stick to a TBR!

Roughly estimate this one: how many more books can you fit on your current shelves before needing a new bookcase?

None! I mean technically I might be able to fit like 30 more on there in the gaps, but I actually think the shelves would collapse. It’s getting extremely precarious balancing all my new stuff on them…

I’m going to be a real pain and not ask any of my own questions, I’m just going to steal Destiny’s because I think they’re fun!

Questions:
1. What is the longest slump you’ve ever been in?

  1. Awe…thank you for the tag love! Your answers are great. I totally have multiple copies of classics…I have TWO of The Jungle Books – one from my undergrad studies and one that was just beautiful and I had to have it. I have a few really pretty books that I have NO idea if I’ll ever read…here’s hoping!

I tend to keep mine rather pristine as well…there are some where I write in them, but those are my books I bought used and are already tarnished…I’m an aesthetic person…they need to look nice and clean!

Also…CHRISTMAS! I love Christmas! I can’t wait to decorate my tree with my friends tonight! I love the skating and the skiing and the lights and the music and…okay…everything ha-ha!

  2. Aw, these answers are great! 😀 I’m glad you enjoyed the questions. And I feel you on your shelves being at the point of almost giving out – I JUST got a new shelf for my birthday and I’m already out of space again. When I got it, I needed it desperately because I had so many random stacks of books laying around that didn’t have a home, but I had no idea that all of those random stacks would equal AN ENTIRE BOOKCASE… So I should have gotten 2, I guess. 😂
