Books I’ve DNF’d this month
I put down Emma in the Night by Wendy Walker this month. An Instagram poll decided it would be my next book to read but I couldn’t get into it at all…

Favourite book of the month
OK, so I loved Z for Zachariah, but I loved Sweetpea even more. It’s definitely my favourite book of 2018 so far and I’ve recommended it to absolutely everyone who has recently asked for a book recommendation! It was funny, gritty, bold, dark, and exciting.

The BookBum Club
For the month of July, The BookBum Club theme is: IT’S THE SOUND OF THE POLICE!
It’s the month for crime… read a crime book, whether it’s fiction or non-fiction!
I’ll be reading:
LoveMurder by Saul Black
This is the second book in the Valerie Hart series, which I only started the other month with The Killing Lessons. I instantly bought book #2 after finishing it because I needed to read more of Saul Black’s work! I’m really looking forward to it, I hope I enjoy it as much as I did the first.
Join the club and tell me what you’ll be reading in August, here! (pssst, I’m hosting a giveaway for the BookBum Club members this month, check it out on the Goodreads post)

Book goal update
I’M STILL EFFING BEHIND, EVEN AFTER MY HOLIDAY!!! Well, that’s it… I’m done for. I’m never going to reach my goal.
Ugh.
*Cries a lot*

Personal update
DID YOU KNOW I WENT ON HOLIDAY? It’s not as if I talked about it the whole way through the year and posted a million pictures of me by the pool on Instagram! Well, if you were out of the loop, I went to France for 2 weeks! We stayed in a small town in the South called Agde. It was an absolutely amazing long holiday. It’s been an age since I went on a 2 week holiday… it was so lovely to spend that stress free time with my family.
I spent most of the time there relaxing by the pool and reading, to be honest. I managed to get 5 of this month’s books read while I was away. On one day we went to Carcassonne and visited the castle there. We also visited the main town area near our villa and obviously ate lots of food.
ALSO, we were in France when they won the World Cup! It was so much fun being amongst everyone for the final and when that final whistle blew, the crowds went crazy! With my step-dad being French, we were all there supporting to the team too, and wearing French shirts. The atmosphere was amazing!
Other than the holiday, I’ve not really done much else! Just back to work as usual and getting back into the swing of normal waking hours lol.
That’s a wrap
So that’s it for this month! There will be no more talking about my holiday from here on out… although Matt & I are already planning our next one!
I hope you had a nice July! What were some of your highlights of this month?
Beautiful, beautiful post, Zuky!

Oooh, how exciting! I’ve never been to France, but i’d totally visit that place you spent your two weeks at. Your pics just make me want to pack right now and just leave, hehe.
It must have been fun being there after the football thing 🙂
I was in Spain once when they won some stuff (European Champions i think?) and it was nuts.
Sweetpea is such a cool book! I look forward to reading the follow up 🙂

France is a lovely place, especially if you visit the less touristy areas! Agde is pretty quiet and cute, it made for a brilliant 2 weeks away!!
My review for In Bloom will be up next week, it was very good, just like the first! 🙂

I just listened to the one about the hotel that The Shining is based on. Have you you listened to that one yet? It’s very creepy!!

Oh yes! I have a non fiction book about Holmes on my TBR, so I was excited when I realised the podcast was based on that same story! ☺️

I want to read The Devil in the White City. It’s fiction, but it is set during the Chicago fair and has the murder castle as part of the setting. 🙂

I have that on my TBR too! 🙂

And for me, it’s now been bumped up in TBR priority due to this podcast. 😉
