It feels like a long ol’ while since I’ve done a tag post, so I thought what better to do today, than post a tag!
Thanks to the super lovely Jenna at Bookmark Your Thoughts for tagging me to do this one. Jenna posts lots of fun posts and reads a variety of different books, you should all go follow her!
1. HOW MANY BOOKS ARE TOO MANY BOOKS IN A BOOK SERIES?
I find that series get a little boring after 3 books… same goes for films…
I have read 4 of the books in the Erika Foster series and the last one was my least favourite because I found the story dull and the characters a bit lack lustre. I still have book no.5 to read too.
That being said, I would really love to read all the Poirot books, and there’s a lot more than 3 of those!
2. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT CLIFFHANGERS?
At the end of a chapter? That’s fine! It keeps me reading.
At the end of the book? No, don’t do that. It implies a series and I don’t like series much.
3. HARDCOPY OR PAPERBACK?
Paperback all the way! I do like hardcovers, especially if the book cover is actually on the card, not just a paper sleeve, but I find paperbacks more pleasing.
FOUR. FAVORITE BOOK?
Definitely To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
5. YOUR LEAST FAVORITE BOOK?
I don’t really have a definitive answer for this one! I’ve read a lot of bad books but I don’t think I can pinpoint the worst one.
6. LOVE TRIANGLES, YES OR NO?
No, definitely not. I don’t come across them too much considering I don’t read YA, but when I do, I hate it.
Does anyone really like a love triangle?
7. THE MOST RECENT BOOK YOU JUST COULDN’T FINISH?
I believe it was The Wardrobe Mistress by Patrick McGrath. I needed something a bit more fast-paced than what this novel was giving me, so I got very bored with it, very quickly!
8. A BOOK YOU’RE CURRENTLY READING?
I’m currently reading Dead Mountain by Donnie Eichar… and by that I mean I read a page of it last night before getting distracted. And then on and off, I’m reading Shame on You by Amy Heydenrych.
9. LAST BOOK YOU RECOMMENDED TO SOMEONE?
I can’t really remember? I’ve bought my sister some books for Christmas, so those will count as recommendations… but I don’t want to say what they are just in case she reads this!
I have raved about The Mistletoe Murder and Other Stories by P. D. James I read the other day, so that may count!
10. THE OLDEST BOOK YOU’VE READ (PUBLICATION DATE)?
I read Othello by Shakespeare in school, technically a play, not a book, but that was published in 1622. I DNF’s all the other old books I was meant to read for my English at school, like Pride & Prejudice, Tess of the D’Urbervilles, and Wuthering Heights, lol.
11. THE NEWEST BOOK YOU’VE READ (PUBLICATION DATE)?
Well I’ve read The Innocent Wife by Amy Lloyd and White Bodies by Jane Robins, which aren’t published until the 28th Dec. Other than that, maybe The Mountain by Luca D’Andrea, which was published in English on November 30th.
12. FAVORITE AUTHOR?
I never know what to say for this question as I don’t re-read many authors. I love Stephen King as a person, but I haven’t read much of his writing.
13. BUYING BOOKS OR BORROWING BOOKS?
Buying! I love having a dangerously full bookshelf.
14. A BOOK YOU DISLIKE THAT EVERYONE ELSE SEEMS TO LOVE?
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen is always my top answer for this. But for a more modern read, I’d say something like The Breakdown by B. A. Paris.
15. BOOKMARKS OR DOG-EARS?
Both! I never used to use bookmarks because they got in the way or would bend and crumple in my bag. Now I don’t travel with my books so the bookmarks stay in a better condition, plus, my aunt and uncle bought me a gorgeous personalised metal bookmark for my 21st birthday that’s gorgeous, so I use it all the time!
I still do like to dog-ear my books though, it’s a habit I’ll never fully stop.
16. A BOOK YOU CAN ALWAYS RE-READ?
Confession: I’ve never re-read a book!
17. CAN YOU READ WHILE HEARING MUSIC?
Sometimes! If it’s instrumental then yes, I can, but if it has words, then no, I can’t.
18. ONE POV OR MULTIPLE POV? (POV = POINTS OF VIEW)
Either works for me. Some books work better from one person, other work better from more than one. I find that a lot of mystery thrillers have multiple POV’s, so if I didn’t get on with them I’d be screwed!
19. DO YOU READ A BOOK IN ONE SITTING OR OVER MULTIPLE DAYS?
Multiple days. I rarely read a book in less than 24 hours. I’m so easily distracted from reading, even if I really, really love the book!
20. ONE BOOK YOU READ BECAUSE OF THE COVER.
The Trees by Ali Shaw. I blame Matt for this one, he picked it up when we were in WHSmith because foxes are his favourite animals and I couldn’t not buy it and read it, I’s just a shame the story let me down.
I’m being boring and not tagging anyone in this tag, sorry! Please feel free to do the tag if you want to, though!
I hope you all enjoyed reading my answers. Have a lovely day!
