I’m in a bit of a rut at the moment. I cant find the energy to read, I can’t find the energy to write blogs and I can’t find the energy to use Goodreads. I’m really trying my best not let this blog go downhill, it hasn’t even been a year since I started it yet, but I’m finding it so hard to motivate myself to do anything for it…
This post was supposed to go out last week but I couldn’t be bothered to find the time to write it, but I’ve pushed myself this week! I guess that’s a step in the right direction.
Anyway, let’s get on to the books I’ve found and added to my TBR shelf this past couple (three) weeks!
Synopsis: She’s a friendly voice on the phone. But can you trust her?
The people who call End of the Line need hope. They need reassurance that life is worth living. But some are unlucky enough to get through to Laura. Laura doesn’t want them to hope. She wants them to die.
Laura hasn’t had it easy: she’s survived sickness and a difficult marriage only to find herself heading for forty, unsettled and angry. She doesn’t love talking to people worse off than she is. She craves it.
But now someone’s on to her—Ryan, whose world falls apart when his pregnant wife ends her life, hand in hand with a stranger. Who was this man, and why did they choose to die together?
The sinister truth is within Ryan’s grasp, but he has no idea of the desperate lengths Laura will go to…
Because the best thing about being a Good Samaritan is that you can get away with murder.
This was a Kindle First book for this month. I haven’t been purchasing most of the time this year, but this one caught my eye! I’ve heard so many good things about John Marrs now that I thought I may as well risk a small 99p for this novel!
Synopsis: There are six homesteads on Blackåsen Mountain.
A day’s journey away lies the empty town. It comes to life just once, in winter, when the Church summons her people through the snows. Then, even the oldest enemies will gather.
But now it is summer, and new settlers are coming.
It is their two young daughters who find the dead man, not half an hour’s walk from their cottage.
The father is away. And whether stubborn, or stupid, or scared for her girls, the mother will not let it rest.
To the wife who is not concerned when her husband does not come home for three days; to the man who laughs when he hears his brother is dead; to the priest who doesn’t care; she asks and asks her questions, digging at the secrets of the mountain.
They say a wolf made those wounds. But what wild animal cuts a body so clean?
This sounds so sinister and atmospheric! I saw the second book in this “series” on BookBridgr ages ago and added that to my TBR before realising there was a book before that. I love a good creepy historical fiction!
So there you have it, those are the books I’ve added to my TBR this past three weeks! It definitely shows I haven’t been using the site much…
Let me know what books you’ve discovered recently!
Can it be the change of seasons? It always affects me, especially summer to a grey rainy autumn like the current one. When it’s grey and drab, all I want to do is curl up and go to sleep and not do much else. Good thing my little girl won’t allow me to wallow in misery! Anyway, hope you feel a bit more energised soon!

It could well be, I go to work in the dark and I go home in the dark. If I don’t get out for lunch, which I often don’t as making food instead of buying is so much cheaper, means I don’t see the sunlight all day as I work in an office without windows! I’ll get back into my groove soon hopefully ☺️

I’ve been in a rut a few times with reviewing and posting. It’s frustrating but it will pass. Everyone has it! I love your blog… don’t go anywhere!

Thanks Emma! I won’t be going anywhere if I can help it, I love blogging but it’s just finding the motivation to do it at the moment

I know exactly how you feel! I’ve been finding it difficult to read and blog lately too. For me, I think it’s probably the change in the seasons – I’m going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark, which isn’t something that I’ve done for a long time. Hopefully we can both find some motivation soon!
