(Non-bookish) Review: Look Fantastic Beauty Box, May 2017

I’m back here again with my latest beauty box!

This beauty subscription box is the Look Fantastic beauty box. It’s curated and sent out by the online beauty store Look Fantastic and is £15 a month with free shipping. If you’re an international reader, this comes with free shipping to wherever you are in the world too!

(any pics with 🐰🐭🐱🐶 underneath, means the product and company is cruelty free!)

The theme

This month’s theme is “The Get the Glow Edition”. The box design for this theme bright and fun, but not super sparkly like last month.

I love the gradient pink to peach colour shift, I think it’s a perfect summery glow representation.

The contents

This is what the inside of the box looks like this month.

Our box always comes with a magazine full of information about the products we’ve received, plus beauty tips & trends and a recipe for something healthy and yummy!

This month, we have another 7 items, which must be the new Look Fantastic way! It’s a great full box this month with lots of really decently sized products that I’m excited to try out. Most of the brands in this box are totally new to me too, which is great! I love discovering new brands to test and try out.

System Professional LuxeOil – 30ml, full size

“The System Professional LuxeOil is a potent elixir, enriched with a blend of oils to nourish and condition hair.”

I’m really into using hair oils after getting out of the shower, and this has come at the perfect time, as my current one is running out!

You had the possibility of receiving a different type of System Professional Oil this month, the other being called SolarOil. The LuxeOil is said to nourish hair and defend against dryness (exactly what I need) and the SolarOil shields against UV damage and reduces frizz.

This comes in a cute compact bottle with a pump and has a really sweet smell to it. This little bottle is full sized and worth £15!

James Read H2O Gradual Tan Mist – sample size, 30ml

“The H2O Tan Mist is a lightweight, cooling spray to revitalise and refresh, whilst delivering a natural-looking glow to all skin tones.”

This is such an interesting concept for a product! I’ve never heard of tanning mist before but I’m eager to give it a try to see whether it works. I don’t like to fake tan, I think it’s messy and a lot of effort to go to for slightly darker skin, but I’m happy and willing to try out something like this if it’s going to mean less mess and less fuss!

This kind of had a standard fake tan smell. It reminds me a little bit of coconut oil that’s been sat out for too long.

A full size bottle of this, which is 100ml, is £20 so it’s not cheap, but I guess if it works, it might be worth paying that much.

Mellow Cosmetics Baked Eyeshadow – full size, 3g

Next up is our only makeup product from this months box, and it’s an eyeshadow! I love doing fancy eyeshadow for nights out, so I’m glad to have received this.

You could have received 1 of 2 shades, Peach or Cream. I received Peach in my box, which, in the pan, looks sort of peachy, but mainly glittery and pale pink. Swatched, this shade of this is very light and shimmery. I think it would be a great shade to use for the inner corners, to really brighten up an eye look. I, personally, wouldn’t use this as as an all over lid shade.

This is baked, so it feels a little chalky, but from the swatch, I’m seeing little fall out and it applied to my hand really smoothly.

This is clearly a full sized item and costs £6.

Real Chemistry Luminous 3 Minute Peel sample size, 7ml

“Refine the appearance of your skin with Real Chemistry Luminous 3 Minute Peel, an exfoliating face peel that expertly removes dead skin to reveal a soft and renewed complexion.”

I was excited when I saw this one in the box because a few YouTuber’s I watch love this! It’s not a face mask, it’s more like a cleanser. You use it on damp skin and massage it in, until lumps come up, which is apparently you dead skin! Sounds totally gross but it’s supposed to be good for you.

This is a teeny tiny sample, and when I squeezed it, nothing came out. I think only half of this container is full, so that’s really disappointing! A full size version of this product is 50ml, for a whopping £48!

Glov Hydro Demaquillage – mini full size, 1 finger glove

“Made from hypoallergenic fibres, this glove gently removes makeup and impurities, and leaves your skin healthy and glowing.”

This is s gimmicky, I love it. These GLOV items are specially made gloves that help to remove makeup, with just the added help of water. This mini size version is just finger sized, so would be good to remove eye makeup!

On the back of this little pack, it says it’s reusable for up to three months, so it’s nice to see we get more than the one use out of this!

This mini-size is sold on the GLOV website for £3.50.

Scrub Love Coconut Cranberry Body Scrub – travel size, 100g

“Penetrating deep into skin, Coconut Body Scrub Coconut Cranberry is an anti-oxidant rich exfoliator. Encouraging nutrient absorption, coconut shell removes dead skin cells whilst cranberry oils moisturise and enhance radiance.”

I have yet to hop on this body scrub trend but maybe now is my chance! I do get spots on my chest and back ocassionally, so this might be just the thing to help stop that, and make the rest of my body nice and smooth to the touch!

This packet is half of the full size, but it’s still a really great sample to try out. I have already opened this, just to get a whiff, and to me, it smells exactly like strawberry laces!

NuFACE Prep-N-Glow Cloth – 1 cloth, sample size

“Cleanse, exfoliate and hydrate skin with the NuFACE Prep-N-Glow Cloths™; triple-action, dual-sided face wipes that effortlessly remove makeup and leave skin feeling smooth and supple.”

Tast in the box is an extra bonus item, as it wasn’t mention on the card and isn’t featured in the picture!

This is essentially a prepacked cloth saturated with hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and minerals. This is a dual sided cloth, so one side is soft and smooth to help remove your makeup gently, then the other side has microdots to exfoliate your skin.

I love these kinds of products, even though they do feel a little gimmicky. You can buy a pack of 5 of these for £9, making each individual cloth worth £1.80 You’re only supposed to use these two or three times a week, so one pack could last you 2 weeks if you stick to their guidelines. I’m looking forward to using this!

There are then, this was my Look Fantastic box for the month of May. I really love this beauty box subscription and will definitely be keeping it up, at least for now!

Have you used any of these items before? I would love to hear what you think!

  1. Ahh, I love makeup! I used to receive a monthly beauty subscription box but I only really liked and used the products I received in my very first box – it all went downhill from there XD I’m glad you like your box though and these products look fantastic (and so much better than the ones I used to receive hahaha) 🙂
