Liebster Award, take 2

Super huge thank you to Beth @ The Books are Everywhere for tagging me in the Liebster Award! I’ve already done this tag before, but as Beth said herself, the questions always change so it’s a lot of fun being able to answer new stuff each time!

The Rules
  1. Thank the person who nominated you.
  2. Answer the 11 questions they gave you.
  3. Nominate 11 blogs.
  4. Give them 11 questions to answer.

How do you get out of a reading slump?

How fitting, considering I’m in a slump right now! For me, the only way to get out of a reading slump is to find an incredible book. Last time I was in a slump, I picked up Rosemary’s Baby by Ira Levin and I was instantly back into reading again. I’ve just recently picked up Last Breath by Robert Bryndza, hoping it will pull me out of this current slump!

Which 3 books would you take with you on a desert island?

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee – because it’s my all time fave.

American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis – for when I’m angry & feeling crazy.

Dark Matter by Blake Crouch – to remind myself I still have emotions when I’m all on my own.

Name a book you want to burn

… need I say why?

Name a lesser-known book you love

A Pleasure and a Calling only has 2,232 ratings and 451 reviews on Goodreads… so I’d say that was lesser-known! I loved this book loads, you can read my review of it here.

Which book do you love the setting of?

I loved the setting of the Miniaturist, which was based in 17th Century Amsterdam!

Which OTP do you hate?

I don’t think I can really answer this one because I don’t care about OTP’s or read books with them in them, tbh. Can I say Elizabeth & Darcy just because hearing about them all the time annoys the hell out of me?

Name a song you associate with your favourite book

Another tough question because my favourite book is To Kill a Mockingbird, which I studied in school, so I was always in silence…

Where do you love to read?

I love to read in bed, but I find myself getting really sleepy when I do that, and over time I snuggle lower and lower into my duvet until I’m fully laying down and then I just end up asleep. I also love reading on the train because it’s an hour of my time each day where all I have to do is read!

What do you love to snack on while you’re reading?

I never seem to eat and read, but I do like to have a cup of tea with me at all times, so I’ll do for that! A nice brew lol.

Talk about a bookish world you want to explore

I’d love to explore Middle Earth!

What’s your favourite LGBTQIA+ read?

Shamefully, I haven’t read many LGBTQIA+ novels, and the ones I have I haven’t liked. This doesn’t have anything to do with the fact that it is LGBTQIA+, it’s just that I didn’t like the story. Like The Paying Guests, for example, it was dull as heck. I read mystery & thriller novels mostly and I don’t find many of them have LGBTQIA+ themes or characters, it feels much more like a topic present in YA.

Now, I’m going to be a rule breaker and not tag 11 people because I’m hounding people with tags at the moment and I feel bad!

My questions for you are:

Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, and find line 8, what does it say?

Type of music you dislike most?

Do you have any tattoos? How many do you have? If you have none, do you want any?

Do you currently work? If so, what do you do? If you don’t and are at school, what are you studying?

What do you think are your best characteristics?

If you could change anything about yourself what would it be?

What are you currently reading?

What interesting things have happened throughout the years, on your birthday? Use to find out!

What is the last thing you watched on TV? Did you enjoy it?

If your parents hated your partner would you ditch them or carry on with them despite the protests?

What do you think is the world’s greatest invention?

(yes these are the same questions as I used in my last one, but I didn’t see anyone answer them and I thought they were fun lol)

    1. I know, it’s the dumbest and most offensive thing I’ve ever seen and it’s laughable that the author thinks he’s “cured” himself. No, love, you’re still as gay as you were before you’re just repressing it

  1. Haha, I remember seeing the Coming Out Straight book on Goodreads, and I was just like, “????”

Thanks so much for the tag! ❤ These questions seem like so much fun to answer! 😄 I’m going to compile all the awards I haven’t done into one big Q+A, so that will be fun!

  2. I’m planning on reading To Kill A Mockingbird this month and I can’t wait! I’ve heard so many great things about it. I also have to have a cup of tea while reading, I’m such a British stereotype haha! For LGBTQ I’d recommend David Levithan’s books. He writes great LGBTQ novels😊

  3. Thanks so much for the nomination, I can’t wait to answer these questions, they look like so much fun! 🙂 Is there really a book called ‘Coming Out Straight’? I had to read that title a couple of times before it sunk in that that was really a book!! I will join you putting it in the fire lol

  4. Omg…”Coming out straight” W..T…F. I have no words. I can see why you would want to burn it, I will happily join in with that one!!

Congrats on the award, and awesome answers. I love the books you would take with you on a desert island 🙂

  5. Ahahaha. I’m pretty sure I still have to do this one you nominated me for – what months ago? XD I haven’t forgotten! My butt is slowly getting in gear. But thank you so much for nominating me. ❤ I agree about not eating or drinking. I'm always too worried that something will drop or spill or something will distract me? But oh gosh, I totally feel like I would end up falling asleep too. XD Your answers – as always – were so much fun to read! Thanks so much again!! ❤

      1. Ahahahaha. But I think it’s a hint from the blogging gods, though, that I totally need to get a move on. But so true! I get so weirded out by the weird stains and crumbs…even when it’s my own book. XD
