MEET THE BLOGGER - MAHRIYA

Back at it again with another Meet the Blogger post today! This week we’re getting to know Mahriya from My Bookish Life!

Mahriya reads totally different books to the ones I read, but her blog is such a lovely friendly place! It’s beautifully designed and there are always discussions posts to get involved it! It’s all very fun & lovely!

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF:

unnamed.jpgI’m an OFFICIAL book addict, potato lover and addicted to stationery. If you want to have a conversation, then follow the chocolate wrappers or the smell of books. My all time favourite TV show is BBC Sherlock and for a book…probably, The Kite Runner, or Six Of Crows – if you must know. I’m so indecisive, I can’t even settle on a handwriting style. I’m also a proud geek (but an undercover writer) who claims that having marshmallows or white chocolate IS LIFE – which it obviously is.

Don’t forget to add Mahriya on all her social medias!

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS!

When did you start your book blog, and what inspired you to make it?

I started my book blog when I decided I was ready to take over the world.

Well not really. I just wanted to sound cool for a minute. I started a little over a year ago to express my bookish rants because I love to rant, who doesn’t?Boring book reviews turned into crazy discussions.

And, inspiration. I don’t get inspired. I AM the inspiration. In my dreams *Sigh*. It is half true though, id didn’t really get inspired, it was more of an ‘idea’? I’m very much a goldfish when it comes to remembering but that’s pretty much what happened.

What is your favourite book genre to read and why?

Why are all these questions so hard? I guess I shouldn’t answer a question with a question though but I simply can’t choose. IT IS VERY UNFAIR to HAVE FAVOURITES IN MY CHILDREN. *pats books*. Of course, Fantasy is my most recent love because, since HP, I avoided Fantasy. Now I’ve read SIX OF CROWS, my favourite duology of all time, I can’t get enough of it. I’m literally thinking of having a Fantasy Feast.

Is there any genre you’re sure you’d never be interested in reading? What is it & why?

I think it must be historical fiction. It is very…I just have an irrational fear that the book will be extremely boring? I’ve read SOME historical fiction, which was okay but other than that I just…#NO.

Are there any really popular books you don’t like?

*strokes chin*. At one point, The Uglies by Scott Westerfeld was really popular and I kinda HATED it.It was really boring and I REALLY wanted to like it but I just didn’t? And I had been wanting to read it FOREVER but of course, I hadn’t and then I was just really disappointed. I hate it when that happens. The bookworm struggles.

What are some of your favourite book covers?

FINALLY, someone doesn’t judge people who judge books by their covers (Was that confusing or what?). Haha, anyways, I’m pretty sure this calls for images? Since I am a goldfish, I don’t really remember covers so umm…I haven’t even read most of the books here but the covers are pretty.

Do you have any bookish pet peeves?

I could make a list. Actually, I AM going to make a list.

  • Doodling in books

I don’t understand the logic. WHY ARE WE HIGHLIGHTING AND DRAWING things in books – please tell me why? Books are meant to be READ not damaged.

  • Reading series in the wrong order.

OMG. *takes deep breath*. IF I see someone doing this, I might be prepared to never talk to them again, and just cry for eternity. WHY would you read a series in THE WRONG ORDER → There are numbers FOR A REASON. The story is just so messed up when you do that – I can’t explain how MUCH THAT ANNOYS ME.

  • Saying a book is boring when you haven’t read

I AM not saying that people are perfect and don’t judge books by covers. BECAUSE I DO. But no one has the right to actually state they hate the book or think it’s boring → BECAUSE YOU DON’T KNOW.

  • Judging books my movies

NOOO, → Movie adaptations are called ‘ADAPTATIONS’ They hardly represent the books and if you found the movies rubbish, doesn’t mean you’ll find the books rubbish either. LOGIC.

Do you buy or read secondhand books?

I think it is a well-known fact that bookworms are kinda broke when it comes to books (okay, is this just me?). So, I DO buy from second-hand bookshops because #cheap. And I also buy from regular bookstores because they have more variety AND the condition is always great.

What are you currently reading and are you enjoying it? (24 Apr)

I’m reading INKHEART by CORNELIA FUNKE and I’m very much enjoying it. It’s a fantasy OBVIOUSLY and I’ve been in touch with the author’s sister before (I KNOW. LET’s FANGIRL TOGETHER) Stuff that happens to me all the time (NO IT DOESN’T → I FREAKED WHEN I SAW HER EMAIL) and so I decided to read her books.

Do you have any books you know you’ll never read?

I’ve actually never thought about this before. I think I’ll never read The Pretty Little Liar books…just because? But other than that, I think most books deserve a chance, no matter what.

If you could meet any author, dead or alive, who would you want to meet?

ME because I’m going to be an author. Actually, CAN you meet yourself? And, me, an author, I must be kidding myself. So, okay, the cliche, J.K Rowling. Leigh Bardugo because she’s awesome. Philip Pullman is also such an amazing guy. Lemony Snicket BECAUSE. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle because Sherlock was such an awesome series. And Enid Blyton, because I’ve read so many of her books. Gosh, I could go on forever but I don’t want to be too evil to my keyboard.

Thanks so much to Mahriya for collabing on this post with me! It was a lot of fun, I love how bubbley your personality is! Again, don’t forget to visit and follow her blog, along with her other social medias!

That’s all for now everyone! Thanks for reading!

  1. MAHRIYAAAAAAA. Mahriya is awesome and I love her to bits. Omg Crooked Kingdom has SUCH a pretty cover, as well as Holding Up the Universe and Everything, Everything. Fantasy is also my favorite genre to read, but contemporary is second. I don’t really like historical fiction either??? I mean, it’s okay. It just doesn’t interest me as much as other genres. MY BOOKISH PET PEEVE IS DOGEARING. *glares* *glares* *glares* (at Mahriya XD not you Zuky! Unless you dogear???)
