(Non-bookish) Review: Look Fantastic Beauty Box, April 2017

Beware bookish friends! This is not bookish!

I’m going back to my old-school blogging routes a little bit here! Not only am I passionate about books & film, I’ve also always loved beauty. Whether it be subscribing to a million beauty YouTubers, looking after my skin everyday or aiming to get all the latest makeup releases, I’m there. I’m also a bit of a subscription box junkie…

This beauty subscription box is the Look Fantastic beauty box. It’s curated and sent out by the online beauty store Look Fantastic and is £15 a month with free shipping. If you’re an international reader, this comes with free shipping to wherever you are in the world too!

The theme

This month’s theme is “The Natural Beauty Edition”. The box design for this theme is stunning, take a look!

I looove how this box shimmers in the sun. Sooo pretty! 😍 Plus, my nails totally match!

The contents

This is what the inside of the box looks like this month.

Our box always comes with a magazine full of information about the products we’ve received, plus beauty tips & trends and a recipe for something healthy and yummy! Can we just take a moment to admire the beautiful girl on the front?! That hair colour though ❤

We have seven items in the box this month (that’s impressive!) but they do look to be smaller in size. Look Fantastic sends out a range of sizes for products, from sample foil packets to full sized items! I’m not disappointed that some of these are small because there looks like a good selection of stuff.

On first glance, you can guess this box has more of a fixation on skincare, over makeup, but that doesn’t bother me at all!

1. This Works Perfect Legs Skin Miracle10ml, sample size

“This Works Skin Miracle is a tinted multi-vitamin serum to perfect and help cover skin imperfections.”

This is marketed for your legs, but can be used anywhere your skin has imperfections!

This sounds like a useful product for me as I have several imperfections on my legs due to shaving! I have really sensitive skin on my legs and if I shave anymore than once a week, my legs come out in huge rashes that often leave behind scabs and scars.

This 10ml tube is tiddly, would it even cover one leg? Maybe not, but it’ll be nice to give a try!

2. Omorovicza Cleansing Foam –  25ml, sample size

“A refreshing, non-stripping daily facial cleanser, Omorovicza’s Cleansing Foam gently yet effectively eliminates make up, impurities and excess oil without compromising your skin’s equilibrium.”

I love cleansers so this is a great product for me to receive! Foaming cleansers always very gentle on your skin, so they’re great to use if you’re someone who has sensitive skin.

The full size of this product, at 150ml, is £44! I’ll only ever consider buying an item of that cost if I really see some results. This is supposedly what the queen of Hungary uses, so if it’s good enough for her, I guess it’s good enough for me!

3. Merci Handy Hand Cleansing Gel – 30ml, full size

“Wave goodbye to unwanted bacteria and stay healthy with these cute-and-colourful antibacterial gels that will leave your hands feeling soft and delicately perfumed.”

Ohhhh, I do love a hand gel! This little hand-gel from French brand Merci Handy is super cute, but super small. I thought this was a sample size, but apparently 30ml is as big as they go.

Already used, and I like it! It does leave your hands feeling soft, and they are delicately perfumed!

You could have received one of three fragrances in this box. Either Cherie Cherry (what I have), Coco Rico or Oh my Lemon. I’m happy with the cherry fragrance, but the coconut would have been nice too.

4. Alterna Caviar CC Cream Leave-in Hair Perfecter – 25ml, sample size

“A miracle leave-in product that delivers 10 benefits in 1 easy step, leaving hair perfectly polished.”

My hair is in desperate need of some moisturising, softness, smoothness and strength, just some of the benefits this claims to give your hair! I’ve actually used another of the Alterna Caviar CC Cream products which was a from the “moisture intense” range, but I can’t say I noticed much of a difference, so we’ll see how this one goes.

A small sample I could probably only get a couple of uses out of, but better than not being able to try it at all!

5. Laura Geller Balance -n- Brighten Baked Foundation – 1.8g, sample size

“Balance-N-Brighten baked colour correcting foundation is a unique baked powder that can be used on its own or combined with your favourite base for a flawless finish.”

Even as summer comes around, my skin is still too patchy and has too many imperfections to be able to wear sheer foundations such as this, which is a shame because I’d love to be able to wear something like this instead of heavy liquid all the time! (I only wear make-up if I’m going out somewhere or to work, never just around the house or for grocery shopping). But I could always use this to set my foundation, like I do with other powders!

This came in the shade “fair”, which I’m assuming is the shade everyone got as they don’t ask skin type specifics on LF. This shade is actually a little too orangey for my skin, but maybe I could wear it over a tan!

6. Madara Fine Line Minimising Day Cream – 20ml, sample size

“Rich, youth-preserving cream with an age-defying smart antioxidant complex of lichen, moss, fern, and alchemilla, delivers intense hydration and targets the first signs of aging.”

I’m only 20, I’m not old, but I do like preparing my skin for signs of aging by using a number of anti-aging products (but most I pass onto my mum)!

I love Madara as a brand, I recently bought a few of their items from My Pure so I’m definitely keeping this one for myself! Madara are cruelty free, organic and natural, so I love using their products.

Though this sample is only 20ml, it’s worth £14! Which is almost as much as you pay for the box!

7. Vitamasques Pomegranate Sheet Mask – 1 sheet, full size

“A moisturising Korean face mask made with extracts of Pomegranate to moisturise and lifftyou skin.”

I have a bit of a sheet mask collection at home so I’m looking forward to adding this one in and giving it a try. At £3.99, this is a moderately priced mask, so if I love it, I can definitely buy myself more.

This mask is lifting & firming, which are some features I like from a face product. Other than the cute packaging, there isn’t much more I can say about this, until I try it.

Overall, I really like this months box! Other than the shade issue with the foundation, all of these products are totally usable. I recognise some of the brands in this box, and others I don’t, so it’s nice to get that variety and even though we have 3 skincare items, the others bits in the box are a nice mix of other beauty items. Plus, all items were cruelty free (which is something I am when it comes to beauty)! 🐰🐭🐱🐶

Sorry to all my bookish buddies who don’t want to see this on their WordPress Reader but I felt inspired and wanted to do something a little bit different on my blog. I will continue posting these, but they’re only once a month, so I won’t clog you up with numerous beauty related posts, don’t worry!

Are any of your passionate about beauty and make-up too? Let me know! I’d love to hear some of your beauty recommendations!
