Based on a True Story by Delphine de Vigan – I’m enjoying this book but getting through it quite slowly because it’s very character focused and a slow burner.
BOOKS FINISHED THIS WEEK:
Excerpts of a Film (1942 – 1987) by A. C. Wise – an alright short story that I read for the Tor.com meme this week.
The Thing on the Doorstep by H. P. Lovecraft – I have found my love for Lovecraft! This was a fantastic short story, very gripping and disturbing.
The Outsider by H. P. Lovecraft – another great story by Lovecraft! Very short but very eerie.
Dial Tone by Benjamin Percy – not as good as I was hoping it to be, but will make you look at telemarketers in a whole new way.
Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been? by Joyce Carol Oates – this is, hands down, one of the best short stories I’ve ever read. How terrifyingly horrible!
The Open Window by Saki – disappointing because it called this as a horror, when it’s a comedy, but not too bad.
The Signal Man by Charles Dickens – my first ever Dickens! Only read it because it was a ghost story. Not great but not awful either.
BOOKS I’M PLANNING ON READING NEXT:
Any one of these books need to be read soon, so it’s going to be one (or two) of these I pick up next.
BOOKS BOUGHT THIS WEEK:
Payday week equals more book purchases! This week I got:
The Dry by Jane Harper – I’ve seen soooo much good stuff being said about this book, O can’t wait to read it!
The Other by Thomas Tryon – I’ve been wanting to read this horror for such a long time, so I finally decided to buy it!
The Crying Boy by Jane E James – I’m not sure what pushed me to buy this one, I mean, look at that cover, it’s awful. I just like stories about creepy kids.
BOOKS RECEIVED THIS WEEK:
A good amount of Netgalley books were received this week! You’ll see most of these on tomorrows Netgalley picks of the week post!
SOME OF MY FAVOURITE BLOGS THIS WEEK:
This blog from Novels and Nonfiction (also the blogger who has inspired me to start doing this) was a great post this week. It included all of her spring tbr books, lots of them sounding really excellent. I have added many to my own list on Goodreads!
This blog from Well Read Twenty Something was a fun take on this weeks Top ten Tuesday theme, authors.
This blog from The Misstery was a easy to read and fun March wrap-up post. You can find a load of great books on this post, and on Annie’s blog in general.
