I created a blog tag! There are so many thousands of blog tags out there at the moment, that I wanted to make one myself and although I’m a book blogger, I thought Desert Island Discs would be fun to do!
Here’s how it works…
- Link back to my (BookBum’s) original post, so I can see all your answers! (Remember to do this via pingback, I don’t get notified if you just tag my url)
- Thank the person(s) who tagged you… show some love!
- Come up with your answers
- Then tag others to keep the tag going!
Premise of Desert Island Discs…
You are cast away onto a remote island:
- You can bring 5 albums, what are they?
- You can bring ONE book (not including The Bible (or other appropriate religious texts) or The Complete Works of Shakespeare, as they are already provided and NO SERIES), what ONE book is it?
- You can have one luxury item (it has to be inanimate and can’t help you escape the island), what is it?
The five albums I would take:
Grace by Jeff Buckley
This is, hands down, my favourite album ever. Jeff Buckley’s voice is angelic, soulful and often times heartbreaking. His songs and covers are out of this world.
There isn’t a day that goes by when I don’t wish he was still with us, creating beautiful music such as the songs on this album.
Buckley is one of my top celeb crushes too, hehe.
My favourite song on the album: Forget Her
because the internet by Childish Gambino
For me, this is such a feel good album. Gambino’s lyrics are witty yet they have some really powerful meanings behind them.
I know this album back to front, it’s my go-to everyday album.
I also have a total crush on Gambino, so having his face on the album cover is a bonus.
My favourite song on the album: Telegraph Ave (“Oakland” by Lloyd)
Parachutes by Coldplay
I despise what Coldplay have become, but their debut album is a gem. It brings me back some really great memories as well, so it would be a nice nostalgic album to have with me.
Chris Martin’s voice on this album is amazing and the lyrics to the songs are beautiful.
My favourite song on the album: Trouble
Lest We Forget by Marilyn Manson
This is a best of album, but I couldn’t decide which ONE album of his to take, so I went with the one with most of his greats lol!
Bit of a change of tune to the rest of the albums on this list, but Marilyn Manson holds a special place in my heart. The message his music gives really helped me out of a dark period of my life.
I love his artwork on the cover and Manson is another of my celeb crushes (yes I have an eclectic taste in men). Plus, this would be a great album for any of my angry days.
My favourite song on the album: The Fight Song
Dark Eyes by Half Moon Run
Now for an album to seriously chill me out. HMR are a little bit of a hidden gem. If you like folksy alternative indie rock then definitely check them out!
I hold this album on a bit of a pedestal because it was something me and my boyfriend bonded on before we officially got together so it brings back really great memories of me and Matt from years ago.
Favourite song on the album: 21 Gun Salute
The one book I would take:
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
Don’t act like you didn’t see this coming! We all know by now, that this is my favourite book of all time.
I would take this book to wake up every emotion in me and make me feel something while I was all alone on my little island.
The one luxury item I would take:
This is Benji, my favourite teddy bear from my childhood. As you can probably see, he’s been well loved!
I would bring him to cuddle when I was feeling lonely. I’m sure I would fall into a Castaway kind of situation with Benji… he’d be my very own Wilson.
So that’s the tag! I hope you guys enjoyed reading and think it’s a fun idea. I’m tagging a whole chunk of ya to do it! I hope you’ll participate!
